Bio
My name is Sussy Ogagbe, and I am a compassionate and dedicated healthcare professional with over six years of experience in health and social care. I am currently completing an MSc in Global Health Management, which has strengthened my knowledge of healthcare leadership, patient safety, quality improvement, and public health. My professional background includes working as a healthcare assistant, intensive mental healthcare support worker, NHS volunteer responder, and previously as a pharmacist. Throughout my career, I have supported a diverse range of individuals, including older adults; people living with dementia; individuals with mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders; as well as people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, epilepsy, complex behavioural needs, long-term health conditions, and those requiring end-of-life care. I have also provided support to vulnerable adults experiencing emotional distress, social isolation, and safeguarding concerns. As a healthcare assistant, I was responsible for delivering person-centred care by supporting individuals with personal care, bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, mobility, and other activities of daily living while promoting dignity, independence, and choice. I monitored and recorded vital signs, assisted with nutrition and hydration, maintained accurate records, followed care plans, reported changes in patients' conditions, and adhered to infection prevention and control procedures. I worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care and provided emotional support to patients and their families. In my role as an intensive mental healthcare support worker, I supported individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties and complex emotional needs by conducting observations, monitoring mental state and behaviour, implementing care and positive behaviour support plans, carrying out risk assessments, supporting therapeutic activities, and using de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations. I maintained professional boundaries, safeguarded vulnerable individuals, and worked closely with healthcare professionals to promote recovery and positive outcomes. My previous experience as a pharmacist provided me with a strong understanding of medicine management, patient education, medication safety, and healthcare delivery. Combined with my healthcare experience, this has enabled me to develop excellent communication, teamwork, safeguarding, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills. I am passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care and supporting individuals to achieve the best possible health, well-being, and quality of life.
